The Blues...

Hey everyone! Long time-no blog! Things are going well here in Kos and Kerry land. I havent blogged in a long time because I started a new job. Also, Kerry and Kos have just been hanging out... no real exciting news.

I do want to say that my heart was so broken the other night. Kos is a young man that has alot of confidence in himself. He knows that he has lost his legs, but I guess at times even the strongest people get the blues. He lives in downtown, so he can just use his wheelchair and ride to any resturant he wants. He decided to go to a resturant by himself to get dinner. He said when he was eating...everyone was starring at him. Kos said that it just hit him...that he is different. He said he put his food down and left. Kos emailed Kerry and said "why do I have to look like this?" When Kerry told me that...my heart broke. I wanted to scream off the mountains... "Kos is AWESOME...just the way he is." I love this kid. He has had a lifetime of experiences in such a short time. It is his turn to just live and be happy. To become a man, have fun and love life and to be loved.

Kos is very loved. I know people may think he is lucky to have Kerry, but Kerry knows how lucky she is to have found such an amazing love in him. The two of them truely love each other. It is beautiful to watch their relationship grow. Every mother wants their children to grow and find a true love. I thank God Kerry has.

I had a talk with Kos and reminded him that if that horrible accident had never taken his legs, he wouldnt have come to the USA and found a family...and meet Kerry. He agreed!

He is an amazing human being...There are people that are going to stare...Not because they mean to...It is something that they are not used to...They don't know how to take it...and in that very moment they are placing themselves in his place...He can take that and show the world...Yes I am different ...but different can be so beautiful and enriching....Life lessons and struggles make us who we are today....And though he has been through so much...It has made him appreciate the small gifts that life has to offer...Keep your head tall and know that you are an amazing inspiration to the world and to us...:)You rock!!!

He is different, we are ALL different. We are all different shapes, sizes, colors, weights, long hair, short hair, long legs, short legs, the list is endless. I'm sorry that some people felt the need to look at him and make him uncomfortable. I think that it is horrible that anyone should be made to feel uncomfortable. Perhaps he can take this situation and use it to educate others so that they can not feel the need to "stare". I hope he always remembers that what you appear on the outside is not what is important, God sees directly to your heart and when it's all said and done, God's vision of us is all that is important.
